You have done well,the first half crown find will never be forgotten,in reply to your question I use a minelab xterra 705,an excellent machine but not so good in the wet salt sand,still picks up plenty of items but lacks the depth of the multi frequency machines,I am looking for a sovereign but they are hard to bring in from the states.....cheers jim

ReplyDeleteI like those 1/2 crowns. To me they look like what a coin should be. That one is the 1st year of issue for a NZ 1/2 crown as well.

Both Victorian silvers found were within 2-3" from the surface too :)

ReplyDelete2-3" is very shallow. What are the ground conditions, is it clay or is there a hard base?
One was under a nice old tree. Other was just in regular soil. Must have been disturbed at some stage for it's placement.
